Travel to a remote location in Texas and share a secluded paradise with some of the world's most talented waterborne athletes. The Secret Spot documents a weekend at a spectacular river the filmmakers fell in love with as children – a love that still burns. This undisclosed waterway cuts through 300' limestone cliffs that shelter it from winds and provide skiers with glassy water year round. It's been ranked as one of the top waterskiing sites in the U.S., but it's still Secret! In fact, all of the featured athletes agreed to be filmed only if the location was kept that way.
The film contrasts the quiet splendor of the landscape with the thundering tow boats and raw power of the athletes who train there for national and world competitions. Two hours in length, this award-winning film is the first comprehensive inland water sports documentary ever produced. It features incredible male and female athletes performing slalom, barefoot and trick skiing, hydrofoil skiing, kneeboarding, wakesurfing and wakeboarding. Their power and artistry is captured in a format that puts a sharp focus on every straining muscle and drop of cascading water. And the action is ferocious!
One local "river rat" may have summarized it best when he said, "The river's got a soul to it. It just gets into your blood." Be sure to catch The Secret Spot – it'll get into your blood!

Curtis W. Callaway
Director of Photography/Cinematographer Curtis Callaway is a Texan whose love for the outdoors was nurtured by his grandmother; an adventurous woman who also passed on her love for art and nature. Curtis graduated from the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California.
Since then, his work has taken him to 15 countries, working in a wide range of conditions including hanging out of helicopters, wading through dense mangrove swamps, dodging tsunamis and working face to face with some of the world's most dangerous creatures. Curtis loves his work and will endure almost anything to get the perfect image.
Callaway has shot more than 25 HD projects, but The Secret Spot is the first he's captured in true 1080i High Definition. Over 90% of the shots are hand-held, so his steady hand and creative eye are a major contributor to the film's success. Previously, his work has aired on outlets like PBS, the Discovery Channel, Voom, NBC and CBS. Curtis has worked extensively with oceanographer Jean Michelle Cousteau and is currently preparing educational programs for the marine science community.

Gavin M. Callaway
Gavin Callaway is Curtis's brother and the show's Executive Producer, Director and Writer. Introduced to skiing over 30 years ago at the 'Secret Spot,' Gavin developed a passion for watersports he shares with everyone he comes in contact with. A real estate broker, Gavin made his mark "selling and investing in dirt," building a successful business with a list of customers from all over the globe.
During hundreds of excursions to the 'Secret Spot,' his love for watersports and this secluded paradise grew exponentially. That's why Gavin, a successful broker and investor put his businesses on hold to make a movie about this little-known oasis. It was his love for the river, the people on it, and what he and his brother saw as the lack of quality family programming on TV. "There is very little that I can sit down and watch with my 6 year old," he says. "Therefore, I decided to put my money where my mouth is and create something fun and exciting the whole family can enjoy."
